“Poland occupies one of the early stages in the logistics chains, which doesn’t justify high salaries.” Sorry. I don’t buy it.
Money eh? I’m assuming most of you are like me and not part of the high-fidelity first class traveling set (yes, I’ll be quoting Pink Floyd liberally in today’s column), but affluence is not the issue. For us, salaries are index-linked in no small degree to our self-respect. With this in mind, I’m willing to wager one month’s salary that none of the political parties involved in the upcoming election will pledge to resolve the discrepancy between Poland and most of our EU counterparts. We are paid up to five times less, but are required to pay the same international price for cars, laptops, phones, kitchen robots et al. I’m pretty certain that issue is on no-one’s manifesto. You can talk to me all you want about the myth of Poland’s sub-par production levels being responsible. You can even trot out some intelligent sounding waffle such as “Poland occupies one of the early stages in the logistics chains, which doesn’t justify high salaries.” Sorry. I don’t buy it.
